Christmas Card: Jesus Birthday (aka Christmas)

This Christian Christmas card is a take on Isaiah 9 where Jesus' birth is predicted by the Old Testament prophet Isaiah "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." 

This long list of names is a great reminder of Jesus' status. (not that you would have known from his birth conditions!). Whilst Mary and Joseph didn't have to fill out a birth certificate for the Lord Jesus, these names are incredible proclamations and promises for us. 

Our prayer this Christmas as you give this card is that your recipient re-engages with the truth of who Jesus is, and what this means for their life. 

This Christmassy card is a lovely reminder that the true gift this Christmas is the gift of life in Lord Jesus. We love that it is simply a card, but this reminder from Romans is a more valuable gift than all the Christmas presents we could receive. 

Romans 6:23 says "the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." December and Christmas can be a time that's associated with lots of dead things (it's certainly colder, darker and wetter) and it can be easy to feel isolated and alone. The promise here is that life is available this Christmas, in Jesus.
